Verizon & Hampton University come together

20 Oct – Verizon Wireless is teaming with Hampton University in a partnership that will equal revitalization for the North Phoebus Community Center located on Chamberlin Avenue in Hampton.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23, HU students will work with neighborhood children who attend the center, to help beautify the grounds. Landscaping efforts at the center, will include building new flower beds around the property, cleaning debris, weeds and revitalizing the center’s basketball court. Another effort is revitalization of the center’s community vegetable garden.

Through Verizon Wireless, HU students who participate in the effort are automatically eligible to win one of five $1,000 scholarships (administered through the United Negro College Fund), Droid X by Motorola or a Samsung N150 netbook.
